The Rotary Club of Woy Woy

Serving the Peninsula and Central Coast communities since 1950

Charted on July 29 1950, the club has been an active and eager participant in the life and growth of the Peninsula community as well as providing support for important regional, state, national, and international projects.

What we do

Our club is about Service, Friendship, Fun and Personal Growth.

Members are offered the opportunity to be involved in local, national, and international community service projects as well as network and socialise with fellow Rotarians and engage with a range of vocational, social and personal learning opportunities. And, while the amount of time each member commits to club activities is dictated by their personal circumstances, each member’s involvement is acknowledged as a valuable contribution to the overall impact of the club on our community.

Community groups we support include:
  • Woy Woy Girl Guides
  • Umina PCYC
  • Brisbane Waters High School
  • Central Coast Conservatorium
  • Mary Macs, Woy Woy
  • Ocean Beach and Umina Surf Lifesaving Clubs
  • Central Coast Community Women’s Health Centre
  • Red Shield Appeal

Community projects and events include:
  • Development and maintenance of Staples Lookout and Koolewong Rotary Park
  • Organisation and running of Opera in the Arboretum
  • Distribution of coffee, Anzac biscuits and candles at ANZAC Day Dawn Service, Woy Woy
  • Christmas Tree sales, Woy Woy Train Station
  • Melbourne Cup Trifecta sales, Woy Woy

Membership

Everyone is welcome to join the Rotary Club of Woy Woy. The club has been a mixed gender club for over 30 years and currently includes individuals with less than one year of Rotary experience up to members with over 40 years of community service. The only requirement needed to join a Rotary club is a drive to do good in the community, to work collaboratively with others and to enjoy the company of like-minded people.

"Rotary kindled the spark within me to look beyond myself and embrace humanity. Service became a way of life for me and I, like many others, adopted the guiding philosophy that 'Service is the rent I pay for the space I occupy on this earth, and I want to be a good tenant of this earth.'"
Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta 2021-22
