Change Over Dinner 2011

As we walked into the Burgandy Room at the Everglades Country Club on Friday 10 June 2011, there was a buzz, people everywhere, all dressed up and looking forward to a great night.

Chairman PP John Garwood called order and the evening commenced. There was Grace by Arthur Pearce, Loyal Toast by Jayne Mote and Welcome and Apologies by Amanda Bickerstaff, we're off to a good start. PP Trevor Walker Toasted the Partners and Jackie Mews responded warmly.

PP Ross Pearse made the Toast to Rotary International, before he completed it there were many other speakers. First of all, PP Susan Baldock speaking of the Rotary Founation and with a lovely story about PP Trevor Walker, telling of the troublesome time trying to get our sponsored student Maurice to Australia, then presenting him with an unexpected Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. Our next speaker was Jane Steele, also with an unexpected Paul Harris Fellow Recognation for PP Ted Crawley and entertaining us with his antics as Sergeant and Community Service Director. Almost stuck for words but it didn't take long for him to find his voice again. President Don then surprised Chairman PP John Garwood with a Sapphire Pin, it was a very emotional time.

DGE David Rands gave a informative response to the Rotary International Toast, followed by more surprises. PDG Larry Jacker was then called to present President Don with a 2 Sapphire Pin, President Don was very surprised and didn't realise that there were so many secrets in the club at the time.

With all the excitement, President Don finally was able to get off his chest how his year had been and what a great club we are a part off. He then was able to have a great weight lifted from his shoulders and present PE Annette with the Rotary Collar.

President (now) Annette thanks IPP Don and presented her Board to us all. She proceeded to enlighten us on what or how she saw the Club as for the next 12 months and closed the evening.

The food was fantastic, we had Minestrone soup, alternate Chicken and Beef which was delicious and alternate pavlova and time tart, yum.

Our photographer, PP Charles Brock ran around all night taking photos of everyone which looked great in last week's Pinion.

All in all I think everyone had a fabulous night, I know I did and just think we get to do it all again next year.

Please be patient whilst all images are loaded...
