Youth Service Report: 2010-2011    Director: Sue McCarthy.

The roles within the team remain with Alan Ford, Jayne Mote and Arthur Pearce developing relationships with Brisbane Waters Secondary College. Arthur has worked to developing the profile of Interact. Jayne is heavily involved in development of Rotaract. Jayne must be delighted seeing the fruition of her work and efforts: Central Coast Rotaract will charter 25th June, 2011. Congratulations Jayne on your dedication to the aims of Rotary, that is, the development of leadership potential in our community's young people. Interact is a little more problematic in being established, however, we are continuing to develop partnership with Brisbane Waters Secondary College.

Our club transferred a meeting to the Hospitality section of the College, where catering students could practice their skills by preparing and serving Rotarians a meal This will become a regular event on our program to assist in development of students, as well as continuing our partnership with the school.

Alan Ford attended the Presentation night at Brisbane Waters Secondary College, where Rotary Club of Woy Woy, providing and presenting an award. Again, this shows the face of Rotary working in the community.

We in New Generations are committed to enhancing programs for young people on the Peninsula, and look forward to remaining involved in Rotary programs aimed at this.

RYDA, the Rotary Driver Awareness program took place at Wyong Race Course, and members of Rotary Club of Woy Woy assisted. We are working towards assisting our local school to attend, and meetings are underway to identify barriers to involvement.

RYPEN was attended by two young people from our area, and feedback from the students who attended was excellent. Arthur Pearce was heavily involved in facilitating the selection, and attended the function held in association with the end of course celebration. It was clear from the feedback presentation from the two students sponsored by Rotary Club of Woy Woy that the RYPEN course is fruitful for those who are selected to attend.

We nominated two young candidates for the Canberra based Summer Science School, however, both missed out on a place there, however, a student was offered a place in the Western Sydney summer school, and her report back and her enthusiasm for her very steep learning curve reinforced the decision to support the science program whether in Canberra or Western Sydney.

Many thanks to the Youth Services team who stepped in while I was away in Uganda. Whilst in Uganda, I spent many hours discussing youth projects with Rotarians in Kayunga District, and also some young people who were involved in community projects. They are keen to liaise with similar youth projects in the Central Coast.

It has been a pleasure to support President Don this year. On behalf of my team we wish a successful year to President Elect, Annette and the incoming Youth Director, Arthur.
