Annual Reports
Vocational Service Report: 2010-2011. Director: Jan Steele.
Brisbane Waters Secondary College.
The hospitality students cooked an excellent meal for us after which Pam McAlister (Campus Principal) and Stephen Harris (Principal) gave us an interesting insight into the school programs. The members were taken on a tour by Pam McAlister to look at the new Medical Ward equipped with hospital beds and mannequins so the students can gain experience in what would be expected of them in a real hospital situation. We were very impressed by the wonderful facilities the school provides for the students.
All monies collected on the night were donated to the school. Pam said they very much appreciate the support of Woy Woy Rotary.
Vocational Service Awards
The annual Awards Evening was held on 24th May 2011. Vocational Service awards were presented to - Stephen Harris, College Principal Pamela McAlister, Campus Principal and Kirrily Harvey, Deputy Principal of Brisbane Water Secondary College - Senior Campus in recognition of the guidance and encouragement they give to young people in their vocational endeavours.
The school's main purpose which is for everyone to work together caringly and supportively to identify and develop the abilities of each person within the school community which our recipients strongly advocate.
They recognise that the students of Brisbane Water Secondary College come from a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds and the school's learning programs provide the flexibility to assist the individual needs of students so that they can achieve their goals and aspirations.
The range of learning opportunities offered to students is designed to challenge their thinking and make the most of their unique talents which is a wonderful initiative.
The recipients were pleasantly surprised by their awards, as they said, usually it is them nominating their students.
