Club Matters

Annual Reports

Administration / Club Service: 2010-2011    Director: Fiona Hunt.

Following a well-organised and successful Club Changeover, President Don commenced his second tenure as Club President. With his usual enthusiastic exuberance and loyalty, he has led the Club into a highly productive year.

Morale amongst fellow club members remains high, along with good attendance levels at meetings. We welcomed four new and active members: Vic Brown, Colin Mews, Arthur Pearce and Martin Schotte.

With the aid of our President and Sergeant - at -Arms, Club meetings commenced and finished on time. We offer our thanks to The Everglades Country Club and staff for their assistance during the meetings. During the tasty morsels served, warm fellowship has been engaged and enjoyed between all members and guests.

This year we recognised the achievements of some of our own members. Sapphire pins were awarded at our 60th birthday to Roy Bunney, Bruce Judd, Eric Leggett and Cec Paul. Susan Baldock has been commended with a Community Service Award, which was given to her in recognition and appreciation for her continuing expertise, achievements and loyalty to Rotary and the Community including the Red Cross Telecross service over the years.

We all also happily celebrated The Engagement between our honourable President Don and the aforementioned Susan. This is your year, Susie! Again, a warm "Congratulations" to you both, from all of us.

Bruce Judd has continued to arrange and provide a variety of guest speakers, at our meetings. These have included interesting speeches from a guitar maker and representatives from Legacy, The Fire Brigade and The NRMA. Annette Karton's young daughter, Alicia, spoke to us about the history of the violin and skillfully performed some tunes on what is a lovely (but albeit an often challenging) instrument. Fellow club members Ted Crawley, Charles Brock, Wayne Jennings and Eric Leggett also regaled us with their vocational and travelling experiences and anecdotes.

On a social level; the Club's 'Christmas in July' dinner was celebrated at 'Zitas' Restaurant, Woy Woy. Members and guests braved the chilly, wet and windy elements. For the Club's Christmas dinner, we returned to the popular 'Yellow Piano ', in Wyoming. Members danced and sang long into the night. Warm hospitality was given to us in both restaurants. We also travelled to Kurri Kurri, nestled in the Hunter Valley, where we were given a tour of the town's awesome and inspiring murals.

As always, our Club has assisted and given financial contributions to international organizations and local charities and people, including flood- ravaged victims in Queensland. PP John Greenway led a highly successful team for 'The Opera in The Arboretum'. Funds raised have been allocated and given to assist many projects and charities.

It has been a great pleasure to assist President Don and his team, as Club Administration Director in our Club during another productive year. Thank you all.

Fiona Hunt.
