THE OPERA IN THE ARBORETUM 2011.    12TH MARCH 2011

This was the sixth time our club has run this event and it seems to get better each year. Although ticket sales started very slow [causing much stress!] we ended up with about 900 tickets issued. Of which amount there were 130 complimentary tickets going out to our sponsors and the artists.

Our platinum sponsor, Central Coast Volkswagen, was very pleased with the interest shown on the day and I anticipate that they will be back again next year. Other sponsors I have spoken to were also pleased and I hope they will again support us next year. However sponsorship was down on last year and I hope we will be able to gain new sponsorship in the future.

A project this size needs a lot of work and l would like to thank all the members of the Opera Committee who put in many hours of their time to make it a success. Jayne and Maggie spent hours on the phone on ticket sales, Tony sent out stacks of media releases, Vicki chased up sponsors and kept us updated on costs and ticket sales, Charles kept an eye on the finances, stamped the raffle tickets and delivered all the items needed on the day. Don and Vic gave us the best parking facilities we have had to date and Ian kept our website up to date will all the news.

Of course let us not forget the setting up and running of the event on the day!!! Here we had an excellent turnout of members and I thank you all for everything you did in making it such a successful club project.

As I am doing this report before I leave for a three months trip to Western Australia, I am not sure of the exact amount raised, however, it was decided to direct $18,000.00 to assist the youth on the Peninsula and donate some proceeds to the Pearl Beach community in appreciation of their support.
